This past week, I wrapped up a design collaboration with Quvel shoes. I’ve always wanted to design shoes, and this gave me a *very* small taste of what that process could look like (minus the reality of running a shoe brand, obviously). For this partnership, I started with an existing shoe style from their current collection, and was able to add illustrative and decorative elements to the shoe, as well as choose colors to complement the designs! I found Quvel through a website called, Shopping Links, and we were a perfect match for this collaboration. I created three unique designs for the Romana Mule Boat Shoe that I’ll share throughout the rest of the week. I’ll be doing a giveaway on my Instagram for each pair of custom handmade shoes after this first post. Be sure to follow along and enter to win a pair for you and a friend!
Quvel manufactured this first design in two colorways. The first one that I’m featuring is a dark blue leather with an almost black eye design. I love how the eye turned out!
I’m so into the concept of customizing your own shoes (which you can do, too, on their website). It’s like Nike ID, but for cute boat shoes you can wear everyday! You choose the colors of everything from the cord, the sole, the eyelets. A few styles even allow you to place a custom message. This idea of customization could be used for a wedding party, best friends, couples or even for matching in a family portrait.
Because these are boat shoes, I wanted to pair them with an outfit that felt very coastal. This striped shirt dress from Lost in Lunar was a perfect option for these shoes!

Quvel was founded in 2015, and is based in the Dominican Republic. I was really inspired by their mission to “empower you to live your journey in a unique, handmade pair of shoes, made just for you!” These are definitely going to be a staple in my summer wardrobe and packed for every warm destination I have coming up.
