Nothing finishes a day off quite like a super tasty cheese board and a good drink. Especially when it is enjoyed from a roof top lounge with a great view of Flagstaff’s historic downtown. And, of course, wonderful company in the form of a great friend. Root Public House was the perfect place for a summertime Flagstaff happy hour.
The roof top seating is definitely the way to go on a beautiful summer evening. (As long as you don’t catch a monsoon. Then the roof may get a little soggy) The seating choices are endless. We opted for bench style seating with a raw, pine banquet table. It is so nice to sit outside and enjoy the wonderful fresh air that I love about Flagstaff so much. And it’s the perfect way to catch a sunset.
HAPPY HOUR EATS
Their happy hour menu listed options from tacos to a full meal. We were there for the charcuterie board. It is such a great deal and more importantly it is mouth-watering good. I’m drooling just thinking about it. They pair unique cheeses and their cured meats really well. The pate is excellent too, which is saying something because I usually do not like pate.
HAPPY HOUR DRINKS
In addition to great food selections, the happy hour drinks are phenomenal. They are handcrafted cocktails made for the season. Meredith ordered a traditional whiskey-sour made with egg whites and the perfect balance of whiskey and bitters. I started with a Gin-Ricky that was so dangerously good I could have finished a pitcher. I could tell the juice was fresh which really made the drink.
I would definitely recommend Root Public House to anyone looking for a good happy hour in Flagstaff, Arizona. It has a lovely atmosphere, quality food, and even better drinks. (And if you’re just looking to stay in and enjoy a drink check out this recipe for some yummy Grapefruit Old Fashioneds.) Cheers!
