The warm summer days, afternoons spent on the porch, and later sunsets are especially deserving of good music to accompany them. I always enjoy something a little more upbeat and worthy of being accompanied by a good head bop and foot tap. Any music worthy of being added to a summer playlist for this hot July should be filled with songs that meet the head-nod, foot-tapping requirements and more.
If I listen to these songs and close my eyes it takes me to fresh grass, watermelon, a beach with a sunset, pretty dresses, and so many smiles. I hope this is a good start for everyone’s sunny, summer afternoon soundtracks. Nothing goes better with a good memory than a good song.
So, without further ado, my playlist to get me through this hot July:
Red Eyes – The War on Drugs
Real Love Baby – Father John Misty
Nature’s Child – The Arcs
Inside Out – Spoon
Souther Sun – Boy & Bear
Hard Wired – Shakey Graves
Boiling Water – little hurricane
Salad Days – Mac Demarco
Darlin’ – Houndmouth
Only For You – Heartless Bastards
