A WEEKEND TRIP TO ZION NATIONAL PARK

trip to zion - camping - weekend - no basis in reality

I recently spent a weekend adventuring around Zion National Park in Utah. It reminded me to set aside time, no matter how busy you may be, to get away from everything, relax, and enjoy some fresh air and sunshine. It is so easy to get caught up in the day to day. Whenever I find myself in a rut, losing my creativity, or getting tired of my routine I give myself an excuse to get out of town and see something new for few days.  It always amazes me how much it refreshes my attitude when I get back home. A couple days of being outside, clearing your mind, resting, and exploring can never be bad thing, right? My weekend trip  to Zion National Park was the ideal summer getaway.

REST AND RELAX

It was the perfect place to get away from my routine, my school work, and my job. The biggest worry for the few days I was there was remembering to apply sunscreen everyday. My first day there I spent purely enjoying the scenery, sitting next to the small creek that ran by my campsite, and reading a good book. This was the day I gave myself to slow down and remember to let my body and mind rest. I think that is a very valuable part of any trip that we can all forget when we get caught up in what to see and do.

PADDLE BOARDING AT KOLOB RESERVOIR

The next couple days I left for all of the adventuring I could want. I spent this trip to Zion in the Kolob area. It is a little further from the busy canyon, which was exactly what I was looking for. My day of paddle boarding at Kolob Reservoir was a great way to get away from people and do something active and good for my body. This was also the first time I have tried paddle board yoga. I couldn’t imagine anywhere more peaceful to find that meditative state of mind than this spot.

HIKING WATCHMAN TRAIL

There is so much great hiking in the area too. Angel’s Landing and the Emerald Pools are two of the more well-known day hikes, but I like to find some quieter trails this time of the year. My whole weekend was about enjoying some good peace and quiet. No better way to find that than hiding out among the trees. I would recommend this trail to anyone taking a weekend trip to Zion National Park. It is a great way to see something a little different, and get away from the crowds.

EXPLORING KOLOB CANYON

I loved the chance to experience a new part of an area I thought I knew every inch of. I was able to run away from the real world in this beautiful place for a weekend. It restored my mind and brought some important balance back into my day to day. This is the perfect destination for anyone looking to enjoy some good natural scenery, outdoor activities, and a break from their usual routine. A weekend trip to Zion National Park was exactly what I needed!
