I absolutely love when brands use natural, eco-friendly processes in their production practices. Pair that with the beautiful uniqueness of hand-dyeing and I’m sold! Argaman & Defiance, a brand based in Chicago, Illinois, skillfully hand dyes each piece they make. From crop tops and kimonos, to infinity scarves and wine bottle wraps, the natural dye extracts used are all responsibly collected from tree bark, roots and leaves. Because of the handmade nature of their brand, each garment they create is beautifully unique.
Their scarves are 100% silk and feel exquisite to wear. The raw silk pieces have a distinctive handmade quality and touch, which I love.
This hand dyed blue and white crop top is one of my favorite pieces from the Argaman & Defiance line. I could see wearing this out with a high-waisted black skirt or paired with black denim (like I’ve done here) for an everyday look.
Argaman & Defiance is environmentally conscious and incredibly thoughtful about the materials they use to produce their pieces. Taking basic, everyday items and fabrics and creating something gorgeous is an amazing transformation process. Here is a link to how the designer, Lydia, uses onion skins as a dye : tutorial

I’d love to participate in the ‘Make Something For Your Mom’ workshop on May 7th if I was in the area. What a perfect Mother’s Day gift idea.
