STYLE | short metallic flared skirt

Gloomy weather is pretty much my least favorite element of winter. There’s nothing worse than days and days of mist or rain, with no glimmer of sunlight or break in the dense, cold clouds. The shop stays chilly all day, and makes it hard to stay motivated to work on anything. All I want to do is cuddle up on my couch with a magazine, a cup of hot tea, cozy socks and some chill music. One positive – the clouds outside open up new photoshoot possibilities, with everything evenly lit and no harsh shadows. I went around the corner to this cool historic apartment building with my photographer friend Lindsay and shot some pics of my outfit.

This skirt is from a designer based in Rome, Italy called DAZE, so I don’t have a link to the exact skirt, but I’m on the hunt for something similar. It has a unique fit – slim on the waist, then almost straight out to either side. The metallic sheen from the silk makes the color look like both copper and blush.

With flats, this is a sweet daytime look, and with strappy shoes, it’s a perfect skirt for going out! Here are a few shoe picks that I love ::

This bobby pin seriously ups my hair game with the copper color and stone! This one is from Lazuli Handcrafted, but here are a few other options ::

A black tank is such a versatile piece to always have at least a million of in your closet. A few that I like besides this LA Made style are – this Blue Life V-neck cami, a cami with a built-in bra for you blessed ladies from shopbop, and (on sale!!) an tank by T by Alexander Wang.

I’ve found a few similar skirts that I think will be just as cute as this DAZE skirt. One from Revolve with an interesting asymmetrical look. A slightly longer version with broad side slits from MINKPINK. Sequins on a blush skirt from Free People. A super metallic from Urban Outfitters. And, a cool pleated version from Lord & Taylor.

But seriously though, I am going to go crazy if this weather keeps up. I’m in need of a tropical vacation where it’s warm, sunny, balmy, and I don’t have to wear anything but a swimsuit and cover-up. Goals! I drew myself a little Gucci garden to try to cheer up, with bugs, flowers and garden snakes, but I have a feeling I’m going to need a major vacation from this winter weather soon.

STYLE | the coziest sweater dress

I’m not usually a sweater person. Texas winters don’t really require anything more than a thin long sleeve with a jacket. Now that I reside in a colder climate, I’ve been trying to stock up on anything and everything warm to get me through the winter. Many sweaters are itchy and make me feel a little constricted. However, this piece from Moon River is the coziest sweater dress I’ve ever put on!

I love the grommeted tie-front detail. It makes the sweater dress feel a little more open around the neck, which I think is where I usually feel the most confined in a sweater.

For this look with the coziest sweater dress on earth, I paired it with some lace up sandals to tie the sweater dress and shoes together. As it gets cooler, I’d go with a tall boot and a knitted boot sock. I also think a chunky knitted beanie would look so cute. Knits from head to toe are hard to pull off, but if you go with knits of different textures and tones you can do it!

Here are a few pieces that you could pair with this for a warmer look ::

And a few other options for a dressier outfit ::

The Moon River brand is a new addition to our website and I really love the other sweater we stocked from them. It’s a grey turtleneck sweater with a long hemline and interesting slits on the side. Check out more here.

STYLE | LBD (little blue dress)

By now, we all have a little black dress in our wardrobe, so I wanted to mix up my basics with a little blue dress that I could wear to many different occasions. I feel like midnight blue is a versatile as black, but can make you stand out in a room. The sleek silhouette of this look makes it perfect for a dressier event like a wedding, but the simplicity of the solid color and shape allow you to wear it to dinner with your girlfriends without looking over-dressed.

I kept this look simple to bring the attention to the dress. My only accessory is a cage bracelet that I designed. The bold lines on that make a statement without having to wear any other jewelry. I love how comfortable the leather straps make the bracelet. I initially designed it as a statement piece that I would only wear periodically, but it’s so easy to wear that I find myself in it almost everyday! The leather is mixed with laser cut wood and an inlay of brass.

This slits on this dress give it a lot of movement, even when standing still. I feel like they also keep the look from feeling too formal. Because it’s such a dark color, the slits break up the solid color with a flash of leg and make the overall look lighter and more fun.

I can imagine walking through a room and turning heads with the way this dress clings to the body and flows as you move.

I wore it with my usual black booties to toughen it up a little. They pair well with the black leather cage bracelet and make it so easy to stand in all night. I would definitely be able to dance the night away in this look!

STYLE | fall transitional outfits

The first week of October offered Flagstaff some of the most gorgeous fall weather I’ve ever experienced. It’s been sunny and brisk, so fall transitional outfits have been key. Walking around in the sun warms you up, but the second you’re in the shade or the sun drops in the sky it can feel pretty cold. Everyone I know has been trying to make the most of it, hiking to the best spots to see the leaves change and biking around town during the day. This past weekend really began the turn of the season with rain, cool temperatures and a grey sky on Saturday, which means I can start wearing my sweaters and boots on a regular basis. Autumn has definitely arrived and it’s time to start rotating out my wardrobe.

I honestly need a huge clear out of my wardrobe at the moment. Summer crop tops are mixed in with long sleeves and wool pieces. It’s time to put them away for the winter so that I can see all of my fall and winter garments more clearly. This outfit is one of my favorite for those transitional days of early fall because it incorporates some of my favorite essential fall pieces.

This grey poncho is a piece I have never owned before, but is perfect for fall transitional outfits because of the shorter sleeves. The grey color and the cute front pockets called out to me when I spotted it. This is the sort of piece you could also probably wear over a long sleeve towards the end of fall, as it makes for such a warm and cozy layering piece. With the weather not being overly cool yet, I could get away with having my arms uncovered, but I know that a black, long sleeve shirt in winter will be my layering option.

Black jeans are a staple I buy every fall. If you can find a pair that fit you wonderfully, flatter your figure and are of the perfect length for your ankles, you’ve found a winner. I find that you can wear so many fall pieces with black jeans that it makes them my most worn pants each year. These are the Paige Hoxton Ultra Skinny Jeans in Black Shadow. Paige Denim has become one of my favorite brands to wear. They’re made in the US and are so soft, with a slight stretch, and will never get baggy on you with wearing and washing.

It is needless to say that the color of this Lack of Color hat screams fall with the deep black color. I love a hat anytime of year because of the intensity of the Arizona sun, but especially in the colder months when it helps to have something on your head for warmth!

The black booties are definitely a piece I will wear consistently over the next few months until I have to transition fully into warm boots. Black leather booties have been something I have worn for the past four or five years pretty consistently. I feel like they elongate the leg and create a flattering silhouette for my ankles and feet, and they always make me fell taller and more confident. These are so comfortable for standing in all night and look great with both jeans and a dress!

OUTFIT | black tie-front skirt

It’s an incredibly gorgeous weekend here in Flagstaff. I’m stuck inside the store for the day, but so thankful that we have huge front windows. We can see the mountains from the front of our shop and I love watching them change throughout the day.

This black tie-front skirt that I’m wearing is perfect for an active day at work. It has some stretch, so it is so comfortable. I love that it feels casual enough for day with this striped tank, but I could definitely wear it out for dinner tonight with the booties.

I’m loving this necklace from Eisentraut Jewelry. It’s from their Mount Alice jewelry collection, named after a peak along the Continental Divide. The brass pendant has a piece of reclaimed Colorado pine inlayed into it and is a beautiful combination of metal and wood.

These booties work well for when I need to be on my feet for awhile. I did stand allllll day in them two days ago and could not wait to go home and take them off, but for the most part they are easy enough to wear for 5-6 hours straight. Here are a few booties that are similar. I tried to find pairs at a variety of price points, and I think the Modcloth pair is actually the best match to the booties I’m wearing – and is only $79.99!

The hat is by Lack of Color, a brand we just got in to the store this week! I discovered them because of their lookbook from this past Spring/Summer. I loved the photography and desaturated colors throughout the images. At the time, I had no idea that I would be opening this boutique. I am so excited to be able to bring them in and support their brand! I’ll have these available soon on the website, and they’re already available in our store in Flagstaff.
