STYLE | the coziest sweater dress

I’m not usually a sweater person. Texas winters don’t really require anything more than a thin long sleeve with a jacket. Now that I reside in a colder climate, I’ve been trying to stock up on anything and everything warm to get me through the winter. Many sweaters are itchy and make me feel a little constricted. However, this piece from Moon River is the coziest sweater dress I’ve ever put on!

I love the grommeted tie-front detail. It makes the sweater dress feel a little more open around the neck, which I think is where I usually feel the most confined in a sweater.

For this look with the coziest sweater dress on earth, I paired it with some lace up sandals to tie the sweater dress and shoes together. As it gets cooler, I’d go with a tall boot and a knitted boot sock. I also think a chunky knitted beanie would look so cute. Knits from head to toe are hard to pull off, but if you go with knits of different textures and tones you can do it!

Here are a few pieces that you could pair with this for a warmer look ::

The Moon River brand is a new addition to our website and I really love the other sweater we stocked from them. It’s a grey turtleneck sweater with a long hemline and interesting slits on the side. Check out more here.

STYLE | fall transitional outfits

The first week of October offered Flagstaff some of the most gorgeous fall weather I’ve ever experienced. It’s been sunny and brisk, so fall transitional outfits have been key. Walking around in the sun warms you up, but the second you’re in the shade or the sun drops in the sky it can feel pretty cold. Everyone I know has been trying to make the most of it, hiking to the best spots to see the leaves change and biking around town during the day. This past weekend really began the turn of the season with rain, cool temperatures and a grey sky on Saturday, which means I can start wearing my sweaters and boots on a regular basis. Autumn has definitely arrived and it’s time to start rotating out my wardrobe.

I honestly need a huge clear out of my wardrobe at the moment. Summer crop tops are mixed in with long sleeves and wool pieces. It’s time to put them away for the winter so that I can see all of my fall and winter garments more clearly. This outfit is one of my favorite for those transitional days of early fall because it incorporates some of my favorite essential fall pieces.

This grey poncho is a piece I have never owned before, but is perfect for fall transitional outfits because of the shorter sleeves. The grey color and the cute front pockets called out to me when I spotted it. This is the sort of piece you could also probably wear over a long sleeve towards the end of fall, as it makes for such a warm and cozy layering piece. With the weather not being overly cool yet, I could get away with having my arms uncovered, but I know that a black, long sleeve shirt in winter will be my layering option.

Black jeans are a staple I buy every fall. If you can find a pair that fit you wonderfully, flatter your figure and are of the perfect length for your ankles, you’ve found a winner. I find that you can wear so many fall pieces with black jeans that it makes them my most worn pants each year. These are the Paige Hoxton Ultra Skinny Jeans in Black Shadow. Paige Denim has become one of my favorite brands to wear. They’re made in the US and are so soft, with a slight stretch, and will never get baggy on you with wearing and washing.

It is needless to say that the color of this Lack of Color hat screams fall with the deep black color. I love a hat anytime of year because of the intensity of the Arizona sun, but especially in the colder months when it helps to have something on your head for warmth!

The black booties are definitely a piece I will wear consistently over the next few months until I have to transition fully into warm boots. Black leather booties have been something I have worn for the past four or five years pretty consistently. I feel like they elongate the leg and create a flattering silhouette for my ankles and feet, and they always make me fell taller and more confident. These are so comfortable for standing in all night and look great with both jeans and a dress!

OUTFIT | black tie-front skirt

It’s an incredibly gorgeous weekend here in Flagstaff. I’m stuck inside the store for the day, but so thankful that we have huge front windows. We can see the mountains from the front of our shop and I love watching them change throughout the day.

This black tie-front skirt that I’m wearing is perfect for an active day at work. It has some stretch, so it is so comfortable. I love that it feels casual enough for day with this striped tank, but I could definitely wear it out for dinner tonight with the booties.

I’m loving this necklace from Eisentraut Jewelry. It’s from their Mount Alice jewelry collection, named after a peak along the Continental Divide. The brass pendant has a piece of reclaimed Colorado pine inlayed into it and is a beautiful combination of metal and wood.

These booties work well for when I need to be on my feet for awhile. I did stand allllll day in them two days ago and could not wait to go home and take them off, but for the most part they are easy enough to wear for 5-6 hours straight. Here are a few booties that are similar. I tried to find pairs at a variety of price points, and I think the Modcloth pair is actually the best match to the booties I’m wearing – and is only $79.99!

The hat is by Lack of Color, a brand we just got in to the store this week! I discovered them because of their lookbook from this past Spring/Summer. I loved the photography and desaturated colors throughout the images. At the time, I had no idea that I would be opening this boutique. I am so excited to be able to bring them in and support their brand! I’ll have these available soon on the website, and they’re already available in our store in Flagstaff.
